You're Killin me smalls!

Watch out.. this guy is in 1st grade...

I always get super nostalgic around the first of the school year.. school shopping (freaking joke with a spoiled kid- why do I need clothes, I just want new toys).. new pads of paper (he doesn't need them, but I have to buy them anyway).. new lunchbox and backpack.. the smell of those huge erasers.. I remember 1st grade pretty well (considering I am gettin on in age).. I had Mrs. Starkey. She was the meanest woman that ever lived. For doing good things she gave us wheat thins. Yes, wheat thins. what the??? Anyhoo.. I remember the Hawkeye drive kids lining up for the bus. For some reason we thought we needed to be first so we would put our backpacks out at O' dark thirty.. I remember Hawk Hurrahs, white slips, ALL DAY school.. Hot lunch.. cold lunch (with the foil wrapped ding dongs.. mmmm!!).. Ahh.. the memories..

Anyhoo.. lemme tell you a little about this 1st grader.. Love, love, loves the movie The Sandlot. Watches it about twice a day and can quote with the best of 'em (yours truly & His Aunts).. He told me yesterday he would be at school Fooor- Everrrr Fooor-everrr.. He still loves Lego's, Star Wars and riding his 2 wheeler. His eating habits have vastly improved from infanthood and he regularly has 3rd and 4th breakfast and dinner. I am sure when he comes home today he'll tell me he is ready for summer break and that he wants to meet Wendy Peffercorn. OH, and he may or may not have bought some PF flyers for school this year.. Now he's ready to tackle "the beast".

He is so adorable. My children love sandlot too. And I cannot believe your little girl is two. I seriously am wondering if you are right about that? really? two? time flies in the blogging world. :)

Oh Jen, how I miss you when I cannot blog. I seriously wonder about you when I can't get to my big ol' clunk of a computer. Your children are gorgeous (nothing new there). I love that spidey's in 1st grade, isn't it surreal? My Kermit starts 3rd on Monday, and Tink, she's off to K-town! WHAAAAT?
I really want to go see that Dance movie, hubby will not not not go to that one, it's gonna have to be a gno.
I'm so sorry about your nephew, I cried reading that post, what a strong family you have. I'm so so sorry.
It's good to see your pop and hear how well he's doing too.
You have an amazing, strong, beautiful family, and I love and admire you!
Loves!!!

I loved Hawk Hurrahs! I think I still have an old one somewhere! Luckily I never got a white slip! I do remember dropping off our backpacks to be the first on the bus and also trying to get the bus driver to play our cassette tapes for us! "Kris Kross 'ill make ya JUMP JUMP!"
